Where In TheWorld Is TheWesternHemisphere?
Two large landmasses, called
continents
, andmany islands liewithin theWesternHemisphere.
The twocontinentsarecalledNorthAmericaandSouthAmerica.Theyareconnectedbyanarrowstrip
of land, known as an
isthmus
, called Central America. At its narrowest point, there is only about 40
miles of land! There are many countries located in theWestern Hemisphere. In addition, there are
many bodies of water in theWesternHemisphere.
That must mean that most of the other five continents lie in theEasternHemisphere.
