Bird
The RuffedGrouse is the State
Bird. The RuffedGrouse is about
the size of a small chicken. The
back andwings are red-brown. It
ismarkedwith black, tan, gray,
andwhite. The throat and breast
are tan. The under part iswhite.
It is striped black or brown.
The colors of the Ruffed
Grouse help to keep it safe. The
RuffedGrouse is hard to see
among leaves and bushes.
The RuffedGrouse eatswild
fruit, seeds, bugs, soft buds, and
twigs. By eating bugs, the Ruffed
Grouse helps the farmer.
